Kimm, I don't think that I'm particularly unique. I think my in-the-head stuttering is simply covert stuttering. So far as I know I don't manifest any physical problems that have in head consequences. For example, the fact that I'm losing use in my fingers due to some mysterious infection doesn't have any particular extra parts for me. It just means I have more problems playing my guitars. However, stuttering is not visible and I can usually not stutter although I do have a slow speech pattern and tend to have some hesitations but there is an in-head component to that probably because I have to organize and process language before I speak. Interestingly, I've found that with a mild hearing loss my stutter (both covert and overt) seems to lessen but with a moderate or more severe loss I tend to once again have problems with it. My Meniere's tends to make my hearing variable although as it has progressed my hearing seems to be less variable.
