Tricia, I agree that the home is often the "safest" place for stutterers but, unfortunately, once you're out of the university environment and start doing things like home health care, early childhood, etc. you'll find that many home environments are simply not supportive. Remember that those who use university clinics or university attached facilities are a very select group. You're correct in that its important to remember that many homes are not supportive for stutterers (or other handicapped kids for that matter) and when they are it is sometimes only one parent who is supportive.
