Brooke, I tried it with two second graders and it was not very helpful. One of them simply did not get it; maybe the abstract nature of a wave form was beyond him. The second child did understand it, but, I felt it was too much work for him. Somehow, it didn't seem like the best use of time. So, I'll guess that it depends on the child and I would try it with a mature, focused 3rd grader. There are probably commercially available programs that take the speech signal and turn it into a cute animal or other visual suitable for young children. I'll take this opportunity to say that I value the sensitive, perceptive clinician. It is the clinician that truly tailors lessons to the client by modifying material moment by moment according to the client's responses. Even work with the Audacity requires the help of a clinician, IMHO. Thank you for your question. Judy
