Pam: I don't mean for the SLP's to become drinking buddies with their clients. That's not the kind of "friends" I'm referring too. But the client must feel comfortable enough with their SLP to ask questions or even suggestions from time to time. Maybe I should have used the term "friendly" instead of "fiends". When I had speech therapy in early 1970's, I wasn't allowed to ask any questions at all, the therapy team only wanted to hear me talk when they wanted me to. For therapy to work, the client and the SLP need to feel comfortable.
