Bobby, that was such an amazing and inspirational story. I am currently in graduate school for Speech-Language Pathology and taking a fluency class. I’m so sorry your first “speech therapists” treated you that way! In your story you noted your family’s reaction toward you because of your stuttering. Not being allowed to be with your nieces and nephews, or having your mom tell you not to have your own kids in fear they may stutter was heartbreaking. I was wondering if you thought that lack of support made you more uncomfortable about stuttering? Do you think you may have been more comfortable with stuttering and interacting with people if your family was on your side saying there was nothing wrong with it?
