Krista: Regrets are a dish best left unserved. The only "regret" I have from my childhood is one where I accepted a "double-dog dare" to jump my motorcycle over a moving Santa Fe Railroad train. If I could redo that one, I would look before I leaped....I made the jump with room to spare but didn't know about the "hand-railroad car" parked in my path. I spent about 3 weeks in the hospital for that. As for my speech, I can't change the past, only the future. So thinking about what might have been serves no real purpose but to cause undue emotional pain. Speech therapy has come a long ways since I first began it in 1966, and it will continue to improve. Looking to the past is a good exercise to find out what worked, what didn't, and what direction to go. Regrets about my speech, no not really. It is what it is, and it formed me into the person I am today. Whether that is good or bad, is anyone's guess. None of my children or grandchildren seem to mind my speech and none of them have the same problem. As for other people who are bothered by my stuttering, well they can leave the same way they came in, I'm staying right where I am.
