Hi Bobby, I am an SLP graduate student at New York University. I found your story inspirational and insightful. The advice you provided for us future SLP’s is very useful. You’ve highlighted the importance of the role an SLP and family can have on a child and adult’s life. I know you found it hard to speak to your parents and other people but you also mentioned situations in which you wouldn’t stutter. I would like to know why you think you didn’t stutter when you were on your motorcycle or treating patients? Did the motorcycle make you feel more confident about speaking to your parents? Do you think you knew the patients wouldn’t criticize you because they had their own problems? Your response would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
