Taylor: I was very pleased with my student SLP’s during my therapy at NMSU. All four were very caring, very knowledgeable, and were not afraid to ask questions, either of me or their clinical supervisor. They all showed me the various techniques (most of which I’ve forgotten now…call it old age) and while they tried really hard, they were the worst pseudo stutterers I’ve ever heard. I know the pseudo stuttering was for my benefit to show me how to use the various techniques, but it was rather fun to watch them try to stutter realistically. I wish that all PWS’s could have the opportunity to work with student SLP’s at least for a short time. The students have such a unique perspective and are so enthusiastic about speech therapy that it tends to infect the client as well which makes therapy go a lot easier for both parties.
