Jessica: The two techniques that I still remember and can use on occasion is “light articulation” and “easy onset”. I will admit that I don’t use the techniques all the time anymore, but that is mainly because I don’t have to talk with as many people as I used to when I was still working. I remember my college days so I’m sure that your current class work-load is extremely difficult. Just keep in mind that you are going into a field that will give you huge emotional rewards as you watch your clients begin to communicate with greater ease. I do know that SLP’s work with all types of speech disorders such as stuttering, stroke victims, accident victims, etc. You will be helping people to communicate with others, which is a major human need. You and all the rest of students in this field have a lot more courage than I ever had. You have to have a “love” for the human race to be able to accomplish the things you will be doing. For that, all of you are “heroes’” in my book and I thank you all for it.
