As an SLP student, I found your story very helpful; thank you for sharing. I believe everything happens for a reason but; When you were in elementary school it seems like you were treated as if stuttering was a disease and that it defined you; Do you find that the stigma of stuttering shaped the rest of your life? Perhaps if you had the SLP you had later in life; in elementary school and had more positive surroundings, your stutter would have become more manageable in a shorter amount of time? I believe it is very important to not treat your "client" as a "client" and to see the person, not the stutter.
