Bobby, What a great story ! First of all I cannot believe how you were treated by a someone that is suppose to be a professional. Being told you were an embaressment to your parents and that you are a "lost cause", how aweful! I am so glad that you finally found SLP's that did have a positive effect on you and your speech. A am currently in grad school, and as a future SLP it is amazing to hear stories like this of someone whose life was truely affected positively by our field. It is also very appreciated that you shared what was helpful to you during therapy such as ordering food in a public setting. It was a very good point to make that it is not about getting the grade to get our degree, but we may really be changing someone's life. You are not a number or another client, you are a person who needs to be treated as such.
