Ashley: I started calling my stuttering “lack of speech” back when I was in grade school. I’m not exactly sure why I started calling it that, it’s just something I began saying when asked about my speech problems. I don’t use “lack of speech” near as much now as I used to. After my therapy at NMSU, I stopped using that term for quite sometime. Now it slips out occasionally when I’m tired, frustrated, pissed off, etc.
