Thank you for your story. I am currently a graduate student and will be starting clinical work soon. It's good to be reminded of how important our work can be. Also, I am terribly sorry for your early experiences with speech therapy. I think the field has evolved greatly from what it used to be and that is a good thing. Families are often much more involved now as well, especially in therapy with children. Do you think if you had good experiences early on you would have had an easier time later in life? What about more support from your family? It sounds like to me that there was a lot of misunderstanding about what stuttering is. Also, I find it very interesting that you could talk while on your bike and while helping patients as an EMT. Do you think that your passion for those things helped you control your stuttering? What do you think it was about those things? Thanks again for this great article. I will always remember your advice.
