Dr Gregory and June Campbell (Gregory, 2003) both stressed the importance of helping children learn how to ease in to the first syllable of a word or phrase, while letting the rest go. This way of approaching speech reduces tension for anyone's speech, not just for readers who also stutter. I have had many classroom teachers inquire about helping other students learn how to use Easier Relaxed Approach - Smooth Movements. The other aspect of it is the idea that you move phrase by phrase. For any reader, this may make the process easier.
