Good activity to gradually desensitize anxious child when confronting oral reading, and to reinforce desired motoric behavior. Wish I had had someone use this technique with me when I used to be terrified of stuttering in the elementary grades. That was in the 1930s, before speech therapists were invented, The only bucket I knew about was The Old Oaken Bucket, and it was of no help to me unless I sang about it, because then I was automatically fluent and didn't need a speech bucket. Ah, the elusive Holy Grail of fluency!
