Hello Kristen, I am a speech and language student at The College of Saint Rose currently enrolled in a fluency disorders class. I find the "Bucket Activity" very interesting and from what I have learned, it seems like creating an easy onset of the initial sounds would greatly help a child who stutters. In most stuttering cases, the first sound of the phrase is the one that is often stuttered on. Using this technique, does one instruct the child to very slowly articulate the first sound of a phrase? If when performing the activity the child continued to stutter in that initial part of the phrase and became upset, would the activity still be of help? Thanks!
