Hi, my question pertains to research in the area of oral reading fluency. Is there a connection between strengthening oral reading fluency and that strength becoming generalized to assist in spontaneous fluency? Hi and thanks for the question. Our clinical data shows that when we work on reading it assists the client in utilizing pausing and phrasing in their spontaneous conversations, as well as initiating that pause with an easier relaxed approach. Also, is there a video clip available on the web displaying the reading bucket approach? The best resource to understand the fluency shaping method we are talking about is in the book Stuttering Therapy: Rationale and Procedures by Dr. Hugo Gregory. Also, I recently published a practical product by Super Duper called Fluency Flips: Quick Drills for Fluency Shaping Skills. While I recognize this is not the venue to discuss products, the Super Duper website does have examples of how the easy relaxed approach sounds in words, phrases, and at the sentence level.
