Abby, All children are encouraged to participate. If they don't want to write ann article, they can write s poem, conduct an interview, or draw a picture or comic strip. There's something for everyone. Truthfully, I've never encountered a student who refused to participate in some way or other. They seem to love the idea of having an outlet to share their ideas, feelings, and talents. Students with other communication disorders may contribute by writing a story usung words with their speech sounds (ex. "An 'R' Story" or "Sad Susie's Story") or focusing on language goals.
