Thanks for your comments James. Can you clarify what you meant when you said that the 4:1 ratio "would also extend to the association with many stutterers in therapy, maintenance, and social groups over many years?" Do you mean that the M:F ratio among people in therapy, etc. groups is 4:1? Or do you mean that the therapy-effective:therapy-not-effecgtive ratio is 4:1? If the latter, I will note that I have tended to notice that even among fluent people, DAF effects seem to be very dramatic in some individuals and almost absent in others. I have not yet carefully studied the distribution of DAF effects, but I would not be surprised if I find something of a bimodal distribution, with a subset of people standing out as being very susceptible to DAF effects.
