Hi Amy, Thanks for your question. Please take another look at the first few sentences of the paper. I wrote that dysfluency caused by brain damage is _distinct_from_ (i.e., _not_ the same as) "developmental" stuttering and instead of being called DS is called "acquired" stuttering. You are correct in thinking that stuttering caused by brain damage is _not_ DS. Rather, as I wrote in the paper, the word "developmental" indicates that DS begins spontaneously in children for reasons we still do not understand. Thanks for your question, Dave
