David: I truly enjoyed how your confidence and optimism speaks to tell your story. It’s great that you have reached this victory in your personal life. I am currently in graduate school for speech-language pathology. I am taking a class where we recently questioned if it was more beneficial to the success of therapy if the clinician was someone who experienced stuttering themselves. When I read about how you accepted reality and changed your expectation of fluency it leads me to believe that my previous question would be true. The past speech therapists you worked with didn’t seem to “get it” and maybe it was because they were targeting the wrong problem: reading books to fix stuttering rather than changing perspectives on fluency. Congratulations on your personal success! And thank you for sharing your story.
