Dave, Excellent description in the first paragraph. It sounds like your realization of the potential for societal imposed imitations that comes with stuttering was a very very hard pill to swallow. I am very sorry. The first losses in life are often the hardest- whatever they may be. Not that you would choose this challenge, but it sounds like its made you quite strong. What do you think?
