There was certainly some fluency training during my younger years, but it didn’t seem like there was enough. Most of it was, as you said, talking of my feelings toward stuttering and little technique teaching or practice. My attitude toward stuttering fluctuated from day to day, but was always that I wanted to get over it and speak fluently. It took a while, however, to learn techniques, and then to employ them. If anything, my environment was conducive toward fluency--my school and parents were very willing to help, it just took me awhile to not be embarrassed of my jerky speech.
