Hi..thanks for your nice comments! I use counselling techniques in treatment daily. These techniques are important tools for any clinician to encourage the students to talk and feel empowered to express their own feelings. I usually introduce my thoughts with "I am wondering about.....". Using this strategy allows students to comment/question/or not reply. I do not react..just periodically comment or make a suggestion. I feel that self-discovery is important for every client. I also feel that exploration of tough situations for kids/teens/adults who stutter is important in treatment. That is why I have developed the ppt slide programs. I do not use them with every student, nor do I use them in the same way with all clients. I am not sure what you mean about imitating or repeating stuttered utterances back to a client. If I want to comment on a speech production, I will ususally say something like..."I noticed that you seemed to run out of air." This presens an observation in a more neutral way. Hope this answers your question and thanks for your comments.
