I do see differences in a student's replies based on developmental ability and age. I never alter a reply, but often I will encourage a student to provide an example or think of another word to clarify. Issues such as positive/negative thinking should be used with older students. I do not have specific examples to share with you but your question is a great one...something that could be discussed in future papers.
