This is a difficult situation!! My question back to you is why do you think he is feeling this way. Are you, as a clinician, talking about surface features? or a combination of other variables? He might sound fluent to others, but have some situations that cause a rise in anxiety or present feelings of being inadequate. These might be ones to explore. I always accept a clients assessment of feelings...as a therapist, I find listening to be very valuable! Good luck!
