Hi Sarah, I really look forward to meeting your class on October 26th! Please no snow that day, okay? I'm from Texas! We leave this Friday for the Frozen Northland! .... Most significant thing I did? Golly, they're all so interrelated. Sequentially a person who stutters needs to get therapy from a stuttering specialist before he does anything else. That will launch him in the right direction. Then he needs to get involved in a support group and in the stuttering community. NSA conferences and this online conference are amazing for that. Along the way he needs to educate himself about stuttering. The Stuttering Home Page (you ever heard of that? Ha, ha!) is an excellent tool for doing this. The NSA and SFA websites are also excellent tools for learning about stuttering. Then he needs to get involved with life outside the stuttering community. Organizations like Toastmasters are wonderful for doing exactly that. .... The journey is essentially one from victim to survivor to thriver to empowered advocate. And each step allows the person to grow and become more successful. The meaning of life is not about you, it's about other people and causes far greater than yourself. That's what makes life really worthwhile. ..... See you about two weeks. I can't wait!
