Hi Katie, Thank you for your comments! I think one of the most important things to remember is that those who stutter are undergoing a journey of self-acceptance, and we are all at different stages of that, and we need to be patient. This valuable piece of advice was given to me by a fellow teammate and presenter on this site, Russ Hicks. Some accept the fact that they stutter much sooner than others, but the ultimate goal is to be comfortable with that and realize that a stutter is just one part of the package that we offer. When it comes to working with others who stutter, I have found that it's all about how the approach is. For example, for the longest time, I felt so uncomfortable shaking hands because I'd stare at the floor. You can make a difference and instill the confidence that when you speak, look the person in the eye. If your stutter doesn't matter to you, it will not matter to the other person. Confidence is a sexy asset to have! -SK.
