Hi Danielle, Thank you for your kind words about this paper being a great inspiration. There's a saying that the truth will set you free, and for so many years I spent my time trying to convince myself that having a stutter made me a freak, an outcast, and someone who had to live in their own world because I could never be accepted. When you have a poor attitude, it doesn't just impact you and your life, but it also encompasses others who cross paths with you too...and they begin to pick up on the negative vibes. Once I started to allow myself to have a positive outlook, I began to feel comfortable within myself as well as talking with others. Of course, there will always be some who just don't want to wait, or enjoy mocking the way you talk. There is a big difference between speaking and communicating, it's not the same thing. As for my family, there's no denying that they've seen how passionate I am about the NSA and all the important things I contribute. But in some way also, they still don't ask me about it as much. For example, when I go to the NSA's conference, they just ask when and where it is, nothing more. I would love to be able to share this with them maybe someday....if they'd like to allow me to do so. Thank you for writing!-SK.
