Hi Ken, Thank you for your comments on my paper! I have to say that outside of attending the NSA conference, which was a major defining point in my life, I think there really is no "threshold" per se, but rather all your experiences add up to realizing you are a person who stutters and there is nothing to be afraid of. I am a firm believer that we shape our own environment, and not the other way around. Although for a while, I believed it was the opposite-after all, when you grow up in an atmosphere where you struggle mightily with your speech and you are teased, eventually the reality you live in becomes your truth. I was seen as "Steven The Stutterer," so I would believe I was "Steven The Stutterer." There is a saying that the truth will set you free, and maybe that moment can't be described physically, but you'll know when it happens-and that is when the doors all will open up. Being a person who stutters isn't scary at all-but rather it is a special gift that you can share with the world and help make a positive impact on others who stutter as well!
