Hi Crystal! Thank you for reading my paper. One of the things I stress the most about speaking to SLP students and in my life is that I don't have anything such as friends at these conferences...it's teammates only. The reason why I say that is because the NSA is all about teammates-it's all about ourselves being our own advoacates and raising each other up to be the best teammate we can be. Sure, I have 'friends' in my life, but most of them don't know anything about the NSA, and although I've told them about it, they're like "Oh cool" and that's the extent of it. To pay homage to Taylor Swift, the NSA is my princess, and I'm so glad I said yes to them! To answer the second part of your comment, I had really been reluctant to join an association like this because I felt that there was no way I could undo the personal hurt and pain I experienced. We can't change the past, no matter how often we want to turn the clock back, but we can always rise above to take a chance on something new. As far as I am concerned, five days in Long Beach forever changed my life forever, and it's as close to heaven as I'll ever be.
