Hi Steven, Thank you for sharing such an insightful paper. I am a grad student at NYU, studying Speech-Language Pathology. Your paper gave some important insights that help me further appreciate what I am learning in one of my classes. I was especially moved when I read (out loud, in fact), "WHAT I HAVE TO SAY IS IMPORTANT." Congratulations for taking such a big step in your life; I can only imagine how much effort it must have taken you to become your own "handler." It was interesting, and in fact, inspiring, for me to read about how you consciously went from allowing how others reacted to your stuttering essentially ruin your mood (and life), to working on seeing a "bad speech day" as okay. Yes, what you have to say is VERY important; too important to allow your previously negative feelings get in the way. I wonder, when did you begin stuttering, and what types of avoidance behaviors did you practice early on? Do you feel like some of these behaviors still impact your life in some way? Again, thanks for sharing, and continue with the good work!
