Hi Julie! Thank you for your question. I think for aspiring SLPs, the most important thing to do besides being patient of course, is to let your patient know that there is no such thing as failure in any regard. I learned many different techniques with the various speech therapists I went to, such as "stretching" to "airflow," and while I had more success with some techniques over others, I don't consider learning ones I never used a waste of time. There are many different levels and you may find compatibility with one patient but not another-we all respond differently. And let them know the world is listening to their voices!!!
