Hello Lauren! That's a great question you asked. This might sound weird of me to say, but I don't fear public speaking as much as I used to do. I can do very well in large groups, but in one-on-one situations there is always an intense fear. One day my speech therapist surprised me and took me out to dinner, but he said I had to order. I was frightened and begged him not to, but he said he wanted to "throw me off the cliff" and see how I did. Of course I struggled, but afterward he took out a pad and pen and we broke down every sentence and block. I never had that happen before to me! But some of my exercises include blogging, which helps me focus on my speech (http://stevenonstuttering.blogspot.com updated weekly) and karaoke-I love to sing anything and everything, and that helps me know I can be fluent-but it all starts with attitude and a positive outlook!
