As a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and person who stutters, I'd like to think that SLPs CAN help adults who stutter. Successful communication means just that - being able to say what you want, when you want, how you want, etc. That is, the goal of any stuttering program is not 100% fluency (no one does this, even people who do not stutter!), but rather, effective communication. I know I've helped a lot of adults deal with the affective and cognitive aspects of stuttering. I'd like to think there are others as well.
