Transfluency has two meanings: a social and an individual meaning. A social meaning: transfluenct transform the actual concept of stuttering. Stuttering is conceived as pathological and as a deviant behaviour. Transfluent doesn´t conceive stuttering as "something bad" but a different speech pattern. An individual meaning: usually stutterers feel many unpleasant feelings, as shame, guilt and fear. Stutterers should not feel that because there isn´t an objetive reason for that. They have internalized the stigma, that´s way they feel that way. They have internalized the spoilt social identity stuttering means. The transfluent movement wants to desestigmatize stuttering. Right now stuttering is a stigmatized condition, because it is classified as a mental disorder. Transfluent people will not be ashamed of their speech pattern, or feel pain, fear or guilt, if we desestigmatize stuttering. Thank you for your interest. Cris
