Dear friend, of course, I think there are "insurance reasons" and mainly economical reasons. There is a phenomenon called "disease mongering", which explains the dramatical increase of disease: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disease_mongering I think stuttering moves a lot of money, and that is crucial to understand why stuttering is not considered what it is: an expression of diversity. Physicians conceive stuttering as pathological and the sell fluency to stutterers... as many other diseases... in which pharmaceutical enterprises gain a lot of money... A very big business is beside the need of fluency... The second question: what are you recommending for younger children? Younger children also live in the closet, but do you know why? Because their parents live in the closet. That is the reason that explain why their sons are in the closet. Probably, stuttering is a familiar taboo and their parents never talk about stuttering at home, and maybe, outside. Parents live in the closet because they hate stuttering and they take their children to therapy to clean their conscience. Parents should come out of the close, but it is very hard to accept their children´s stuttering. If parents come out of the closet, we should make our neighbors and school mates be aware of stuttering. We should desestigmatize stuttering AT HOME, in the neighborhood and school. Thanks for your interest. Cris
