Claudine, Thanks for reading my paper. Some of the PWS who attended the Therapy spoke of some of those myths or beliefs as to why they stutter. Some said they inherited this from a family member, some said it was a curse from the gods, others believed it was as a result of them imitating some PWS. As to the treatments some of them had, they included things like eating some insects, drinking water from particular objects and offering sacrifices to please the gods. Personally, I have not volunteered in other parts of the world. In 2005, we organised speech therapy sessions here for some of the delegates who came from many different African countries to take part at the First conference on stuttering. Some members of the International stuttering association, have gone on similar missions to Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritius and Senegal. There are plans next year for a similar mission to be carried out by the ISA in India and some countries in Asia.
