I am so glad you asked this question. Prior to my retirement from the university setting, I had only worked with stuttering using the family model. I always wondered if the same procedures could be used with other disorders as well. The answer is YES! Jim and Mary Andrews (now retired as well) pioneered family work with disorders other than stuttering. It is great to be in a school setting where I can work with the parents and teachers with language, articulation, and other issues. I do not see children without the communication environment being involved. This model is simply too effective not to use with all cases in my opinion.
