Katrina, you ask a question that is difficult to answer. I just dealt with an articulation case where the parents were too busy to be bothered and wanted someone to fix the problem. The parents found someone else to work with their child. We can't win them all. Let me ask you this question: Do you think it is in the child's best interest to work with a problem like stuttering and then send the child back into the environment that may be contributing to the problem? That is a tough one and I do not have the answer to that. Personally, I had no therapy until I was 22 years of age. I learned to cope with stuttering. When I was an adult and motivated I received help and was able to get control easily. Every case is different. I would hope that the right decisions would be made that would be in the child's best long-term interest. It may be that the teachers and the school environment is the best we can hope for. But still, what about the answer to the question above? What do you think? Thanks for your compelling question.
