Hi, my name is Julie Cessna and I am currently a Speech Pathology graduate student at West Virginia University. After reading your article I think it is great how you incorporate parents and classroom teachers within your process. Being a daughter of two teachers I understand how much many of them want to help and encourage children every day. Sometimes I feel that teachers they are unaware or even uneducated to the methods and approaches they should use to help a child overcome their problem. I feel many teachers avoid and even ignore situations they are unsure of how to handle. Your program does a great job of giving them the tools they need to assist in the process. Also I feel that incorporating parents as well gives each child a greater chance of recovery, meeting with their school’s S.L.P. once a week is great but the constant interaction, praise and reflection a parent can manufacture is priceless.
