I believe in a "do whatever works" method, so I tend to incorporate different approaches. I don't believe that one program holds all the answers. I typically do teach 1-2 tools so that the child/teen/adult has a way to get through their stuttering. We also work on desensitization through pseudo-stuttering and activities focusing on attitudes/emotions like the ones by Bill Murphy, Kristin Chmela and Nina Reardon. So, no I don't solely strive for fluency. I definitely take a whole person approach (like CALMS) with family education and fluency is one of the goals for most of my clients/students. I hope that makes sense; it's harder to relate things over e-mail than in person :).
