Megan, thanks for your question. You are correct that decreasing hectic lifestyles is probably good for everyone. The simple act of spending five minutes two times a week often points out to the parents just how busy they are. I have had parents to say they simple don't have the time or find it difficult to find the time. Regarding secondary features of stuttering, I never work on those independently. We will talk about the struggle behaviors, etc. as part of what they do when stuttering. When the person who stutters gets control of the speech musculature during stuttering, the struggle behaviors go away on their own. Remember that anything a person does to try and deal with the moment of stuttering that does not involve producing the sound or word is an attempt to stop the stuttering or not let it happen. When they get control the struggle and avoidance go away. They are not needed anymore! Thanks again for your questions and best wishes.
