Blaire, thanks for your nice comments. Parents who do not participate do not work with me in a family program. I hope they understand that from the beginning. I have had parents who do not want to work as I suggest and I either recommend someone else for them to see or they go elsewhere on their own. We do, for sure, have parents who want to take the information they learn and do their own thing. That is one of the reasons for the three week Talk Time at the very beginnng. If parents do not follow through as assigned with that task then there is no reason for me to assume they will follow through with anything else. We discuss this and sometimes it works out where we can start a program and sometimes it does not. We have to be careful in assuming that parents want to work with you and their child. Some want you to do it and leave them out of the process. Obviously, a family-based program is not for them. Thanks again for writing.
