Hi I am a graduate student at New York University and currently taking a Fluency Disorder class. I enjoyed your article and agree that with school –aged kids, parents and teachers are the people the child interacts with the most therefore they should be the essential part of the indirect and nontraditional therapy you provide. First, I just want to clarify that the goal of your type of simplification therapy is to deal with problems that arise because of stuttering and not to deal with stuttering per se? The simplification of stuttering therapy you offer for school aged kids that consists of 3 week assignment is enough time to find out all the information needed? And you also mentioned that during three weeks the information gained it will determine if the child needs to be enrolled formally for speech therapy, how so? How do these 3 weeks assignment tell you what is the next step? How can you tell child needs formal speech therapy?
