Meredith, thanks for your question. I can't think of a time when parents have slacked off once we begin. I try to screen the families closely before making an enrollment decision. Their dedication will usually be revealed in the initial three week assignment. That is one of the purposes of the assignment. Keep in mind that a decision is about enrollment is not made until after the three week assignment and case history with the parents and an assessment of the child. The parent information is normally what determines enrollment. As I said in a previous response, I use the child to get to the parents! However, if I did have parents that did not follow through then I would suspend therapy until they were ready to resume. Best wishes with your studies and future professional career.
