As a first year graduate student, I have to say that the word "simplifying" in your title grabbed me right away. I was so intrigued by your approach to therapy and the simplicity of it all. It made sense to me, and I feel like I could actually implement it! Your approach combines things I am learning from several different classes and it really pulled everything together for me, such as using authentic situations, rather than decontextualizing treatment, treating the problem, not just the stuttering, and involving family members and teachers. I like that you put the power in the child's hand. They determine what is important to work on, and you target the problem, which is not always the actual stuttering. Empowering the parents is important I think as well, and that is exactly what you do when you make them a key component in therapy. Thank you for your post, I will definitely keep this paper handy for when I become a clinician. And thank also you for keeping it simple!
