Dr. Millard, thank you for sharing this approach. I am currently working on my masters in speech therapy and am eager to learn some practical therapy ideas that can be implemented through my practices. As of now I plan on practicing in a school- based setting and am curious to hear of different, successful techniques to involve parents as much as possible in their child’s therapy experience. I can see how this therapy approach is not only for the client, but for their family as well. I am sure that you have had an array of experiences with different types of families, but I think that the time they are spending with their children without any outside interruption is not only improving their fluency but is creating the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship in a way that is often overlooked in modern society. I am curious to know if any of your client’s families have expressed experiencing this type of “relationship therapy” to you. Thanks again!
