Dear Dr. Mallard, I am going to school to become a Speech Language Pathologist. I am in my first year of graduate school and I have not had any practice wtih clients at the moment. I was wondering if you thought it was appropriate to talk with the other students and explain to them about stuttering. I believe if people are better educated about a situation or topic then they are more likely to be less judgemental. However, I know in schools children can be very cruel. I was curious if it would lessen the tension for the child with a stuttering problem if the other children understood his/her struggle.
