Orit, you describe a situation that happens many times. The parents come to us with preconceived ideas as to what "will" happen and that is that. I always wonder why they come for "help" if they already know what should be done! This is difficult because the parent can undermine your efforts if they are not working with you. This is why the three week Talk Time, the case history, and the assessment of the child is so important. If the parents refuse to cooperate, I then refer them to someone who will do what they want. I hate to see this happen but it does. Great question.
